Overview: Initializing a new database for use with the AT

These guidelines assume that you have already downloaded and installed the Archivists’ Toolkit client. If you have not already done this, do so now, as it will be necessary to complete step 5.

Note: Ask for local technical assistance if you have access to it. Otherwise progress through the installation guidelines slowly and carefully. There is a high risk of frustration if you do not enter a setting correctly.

Installing the Archivists' Toolkit requires the following steps:

1. Downloading the database server
2. Installing the back end database server
3. Creating a blank database
4. Creating user accounts for using and managing the database
5. Initializing the database using the Archivists’ Toolkit Maintenance program
