Install the Toolkit on Suse Linux virtual server

Hello there,

I am trying to install version 1.5 on one of our virtual Suse linux.
My only access is putty. But then after I type the command
./installArchivistsToolkit1_5_4.bin
It did extract and start to run but then I get these:

The installer cannot run in this UI mode. To specify the interface mode, use the -i command-line option, followed by the UI mode identifier. The valid UI modes identifiers are GUI, Console, and Silent.

Anyone has any ideas ?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Are you trying to install the client on Suse Linux virtual server? I found the information somewhat difficult in terms of installation steps. The client that you download here needs to be installed on each individual computer that is trying to connect to a database server. So you need a MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle server to connect to. You then create a new instance for archivist toolkit and run the maintenance program to initialize the database. Finally, you connect the client to the db...

Hope this helps...

Thanks for replying quickly.

Thanks for replying quickly. We already install an web application that the main database is MYSQL on that virtual server. The issue is , I did try to install a window version of the Archivist Toolkit on my PC, and then try to connect to the mySQL server instance. But it encounter the issues of case sensitivity difference between the OS(windows and Linux)

I transferred my data from a Windows instance to a Linux one and am receiving a "java.sql.SQLException: Table 'acaa.Constants' doesn't exist" error. What do I do?

This is in the FAQ section, and I still don’t clearly get the advices “do a search and replace on the sql file”
If it means that I have to adjust the web application, I cannot go that way. The application is KETE (an open-source written by Ruby on rail). I never worked with Ruby on Rail before, I am not sure if the modification can influence something on the applications that can be easily adjusted.
Besides, if I modify the applications, when they have a new version coming, it can be very hard to do the upgrade.

So I try to install the Archivist’s toolkit on the same virtual linux server to overcome the issue. I am just a Developer, not a Network engineer so cannot control all the servers on the network. And the place I work is a non-profit organization, our budget is quite tight.

Thanks a lot for reading this.
I appreciate if any of these above issues can be worked around.
