Mellon Foundation Grant to Fund Merging of Archivists’ Toolkit and Archon: Planning Phase
Attached please find the press release for the planning phase of the development of a next-generation archives management application by the Archivists’ Toolkit™ (AT) and Archon™ teams. The technical planning will take place this spring and the creation of a sustainable governance and business model will take place this summer. This fall, we will submit a recommendation to the Andrew W. Mellon foundation regarding the potential for a new and better archiving tool.
The Project Director for the planning project will be Susan Harum at the University of Illinois. Annie Ross, at the UC San Diego Libraries, will oversee continuing support for Archivists’ Toolkit™ (AT) and Archon™ users while these applications are maintained at their current level.
We will be in frequent communication and consult with the users and the archival community, sending updates on the progress and planning process. While we work on setting up a central web presence, please direct your questions to: Annie Ross, a2ross@ucsd.edu, or Susan Harum, sharum@illinois.edu.
